There's a bug currently bringing down the worth of Samsung Galaxy S8. The smartphone no longer receive SMS messages.
Recently, there's been complaints arriving from Samsung Galaxy S8 users, saying that “SMS messages are failing to arrive on the smartphone”. The issue was reported as experienced by users in these five major countries; US, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE, AND EUROPE, saying that four major mobile phone networks in the US are affected as well as mobile phone networks in other affected countries.
Initially, people taught the issue is arising from the mobile phone network operators. A test was made by inserting the SIM card in the affected Samsung mobile phone into another brand of smartphone device, and the issue was found solved, meaning the bug is actually from Samsung brand.
Some complaint comments by affected users on reddit platform, has created a large thread on the Galaxy S8 subreddit page as well as on forum available online.
Following the comments on reddit.com, Culby who said he missed some important work text that resulted in him dragging his ass to work three (3) hours before the newly appointed time, only for him to have found out that he didn't have to go through those stress. Sounds funny and annoying to my ears, Hahaha…
Reporting another comment by another reddit user called Ep260 who said “she tried sending text message to her mom but wasn't successful, she honestly had thought it was just her mom’s ancient flip phone not sending messages, but later realized it was her newfangled smartphone”.
According to another reddit user called Aquie5t who added: “I’m in Australia on Optus and I have had the problem as well. Using both Android Messages and the stock Samsung Messages.” To prove this bug is not only prone to the US also but other countries.
Another comment by a reddit user called Turbomuffler made me believe the bug is available not to the Galaxy S8 alone, as he complained of his Galaxy S7 Edge encountering the same problem, this was his comment: I’m missing a few messages too. Galaxy S7 Edge, Android Messages app, AT&T. It caused me to drive an hour out of my way to an event that was cancelled via a text that I didn’t receive”
Luckily enough, there are other third-party messaging apps available online for use, but the annoying thing is that, some of these messaging apps like Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp work with the two-factor authentication especially facebook to get one's account logged in by an authorized user.
And users with Galaxy S8 will never have the chance of receiving a two-factor authentication code via SMS text.
This bug has caused so many disasters, and is still causing more. I'm sympathized to those affected Samsung mobile phone users who do no longer receive SMS alert from their place of work causing them to miss work schedule.
Too bad Samsung is yet to put a fix to the bugs.
